Social Justice

A core practice for many Unitarian Universalists, our Social Justice team is an active part of Charleston area justice initiatives working to advance racial justice, relieve food insecurity, provide enrichment for local school children, address environmental change, support LGBTQ folks, and protect immigrants and refugees in our community.

Given the theological diversity of our congregation, our social views are also varied. We are not bound by a political affiliation but instead by a shared desire to do good in the world. Social Justice work is woven throughout weekly, monthly, and annual events at our church and there are regular opportunities for long time members and new visitors alike to get involved.

We have a strong commitment to the Charleston Area Justice Ministry (CAJM), a growing network of Faith Based Congregations who are culturally, economically, geographically and religiously diverse. We choose to come together to make the Charleston area a more just place to live.
